John T. Duda Sr.
John T. Duda Sr., 89, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of December 5, 2017 at the Butler VA Medical Center. Born on December 28, 1927 in New Castle, he was the son of the late George and Mary Knox Duda. On September 11, 1954, he married his beloved wife, the former Joanne L. Steiner, and the two of them spent 52 years together until she preceded him in death on April 5, 2007.

John had a long career of serving his country as a member of the U.S. Army for 28 years in several locations, including Korea, Germany, and Vietnam. He also worked for Mesta Machine as a machine operator and for the Lawrence County Catholic Cemeteries Association. John was a member of St. Camillus Church. John enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, and visiting casinos. His greatest joy came from traveling to see his family.

John is survived by his children, Linda Hunter and husband Gerald of Woodleaf, NC, Judy Jones and husband Rick of New Castle, Darla Kerr and husband Linden of Edinburg, PA, Timothy M. Duda and wife Kari of Masury, OH, and Steven Duda and wife Doris of Surprise, AZ; sisters, Emily Mrozek of New Castle and Bernadine Styla of Southgate, MI; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, John T. Duda Jr.; brothers, Steve, George, Edward, and Martin Duda; and sisters, Darlene Caminiti, Mary Presnar, Dorothy Raskowski, and Helen Rose Duda.

Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 9:00am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am at St. Camillus Church, officiated by Father Michael Peck.

Entombment will take place in Castleview Memorial Garden. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct full military rites at the cemetery.
