Obituary for John Curry

John Curry
John D. Curry, 77, formerly of E. Washington Street, passed away the afternoon of August 6, 2017 at his residence in McKeesport, PA. Born on September 14, 1939 in Woodbury, NJ, he was the son of the late William and Frances Dalbow Curry. In 1961, John married the former Sandra Bachman and she preceded him in death in 1967. He then married the former Shirley Tranquillo in 1969, and she preceded him in death in 2009. John is survived at home by his wife, the former Sandra Walker, whom he married in 2012.

John had worked for the Rockwell Spring Division for 12 years. He later retired as the St. Vitus Parish Custodian and Sacristan after working for more than 30 years. He served his country as a member of the 1st Armor Division of the U.S. Army. John was a member of St. Vitus Church, and he also belonged to the New Castle Area Honor Guard and Italian-American War Veterans.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, John C. Curry and wife Mary Jo of Pennsville, NJ, Stacy Beere and fiancé William Knox of McKeesport, PA, Steve Peters and wife Connie of Worthington, PA, and Sanford Peters of Butler, PA; brother, Lee Curry of Pennsville, NJ; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his two wives, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Ann Curry.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Thursday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father Frank Almade.

Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
